FIELD TRIPS

Field trips are an integral part of the ATIS educational program, and all students are expected to participate. Information about specific field trips is sent home well in advance so that parents are fully informed. Even though a student may have visited the destination previously, she/he is expected to participate in the field trip because there will be follow-up classroom discussions and projects. In addition, it is important for students and teachers to share experiences outside the classroom. Unless a medical excuse is presented or there is a family emergency, an absence on a field trip day will be considered unexcused.

FIRE DRILLS

The safety of students at ATIS is always a major concern. The building meets current codes of safety which include a sprinkler system in the event of fire. Evacuation drills are conducted each quarter for students and staff. In keeping with our safety processes we remind students and parents that tampering with fire extinguishers and sprinkler systems or causing a false fire alarm is a very serious offence in Kuwait.

LOCKERS

In the MS/HS, the school has a book locker program. The rental fee for the locker is 3 KD per year. A student found entering another student’s locker for any reason may face suspension from ATIS.

LOST AND FOUND

Lost and found boxes are located in various places in the school. Expensive or fragile items (eye glasses, money, watches, purses, etc) are held in the office of the school secretary. After two months, items will be sold or discarded and the money given to charity. Students who lose something of value should report it immediately to the Principal at their grade level.

LOST BOOKS

When a student loses a book, he/she must pay for the replacement of the original book, including DHL costs from the U.S. The school has fixed the cost at 25 KD. It takes 20-30 days to re-order a textbook from the U.S. and a student who loses a book will have to manage with notes or handouts until the new book arrives by DHL. Those without textbooks at the end of the year will be charged the cost of a new book plus shipping charges.

SCHOOL BUS

For those students who take the daily school bus, there are a set of rules that must be obeyed. These rules also apply to any student taking a school bus for any activity or trip.

Bus Conduct Rules:

  • All the school rules and appropriate attitudes and behaviors apply to riding the ATIS school buses and at bus stops.
  • Students are expected to take the assigned seat, sit facing forward and remain seated while the bus is in motion. SEAT BELTS, where provided, MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES.
  • The bus driver, student monitor or an adult who is on the bus, is in charge and will handle any misconduct.
  • All bus riders and their parents must be familiar with the specific bus regulations that are given to each student at the beginning of the year. Failure to abide by the bus safety rules may result in suspension from ATIS buses.

SCHOOL LUNCH PROGRAM

The school has retained the services of an external catering company. They provide hot nutritious lunches that the students may buy. We do not sell carbonated drinks and would request that parents not send them in the lunches of students. Students have the choice of either bringing their own lunch or buying it, on a cash basis.

MOBILE PHONES

There is NO need for a student to bring a mobile phone to school. Any student found to have one, will have it confiscated and returned to them in one week.
