School closed for National Day and Liberation Day

On the occasion of National Day, Liberation Day and Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) Day, the School will be closed on Thursday 25/2/2010. School will reopen on Tuesday 2/3/2010. The school managemeent takes this opportunity to wish all staff and students a Happy and Prosperous Holiday.

Elementary and KG Sports Days

Wednesday March 3 - KG to Grade 2 Sports Day
Thursday March 4 - Grade 3-5 Sports Day
Notices will be coming out about these events within the next few days but parents are advised that both venues are the same as for last year.

Grade 3 Production

This will be held on Wednesday December 23 and we invite all parents, family members and friends to join us as the Grade 3 team explore the water cycle. This will be the third Elementary production this year and as with the previous productions, we can assure you that it will be a bright and colorful event with lots of music, movement and enjoyment for all.

Elementary/KG Professional Development Day

On Thursday December 24 there will be no school for KG or Elementary as the staff will be undertaking some professional training on this day. Professional Development is something of value to all our stakeholders. Clearly the staff benefit from these days and as a result your children will receive improved education as a result of the additional information received by the staff. Please note that Middle School and High School classes will still operate as normal.

Autumn Break

The school will be closed on the week December 27 to January 3 for our Autumn break. If you are traveling over this time, we would like to wish you safe travels and we trust you enjoy your brief vacation.

Book Week

Elementary and KG classes will be celebrating Book Week immediately after the Autumn Break (Monday January 4 to Thursday January 7). More details will follow but as part of the week the regular Book Fair in the PAC will operate and we encourage you all to visit the book fair to purchase books for your children. We would especially like to thank Ms Tahani our Elementary Librarian for the work she has put into this particular event. Book Week is an exciting time for the students and an excellent opportunity for them to realise that there are many different ways of learning and particularly developing a love for reading.

EID Break

Our Eid Break will be from Thursday 26 November through until Saturday December 5 with school re-opening Sunday December 6. We trust you enjoy this special time of the year and for those who are traveling, we trust you all travel safely.

Report Cards

Elementary and KG report cards will go home WITH THE STUDENTS on the afternoon of TUESDAY NOVEMBER 24.
Middle School/High School reports can be picked up from the PRAYER ROOM ON FLOOR 2 from 12.30pm on WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 25

Parent Teacher Conference

Elementary and KG parent conferences will be held on WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 25 throughout the day. Parents are asked to sign up for appointment times on the schedules outside each classroom.PLEASE NOTE – there will be no school for Elementary and KG students on this day however Middle School and High School classes will run as normal.

WELCOME TO THE NEW ACADEMIC YEAR

We wish to take the opportunity of welcoming the A'Takamul Family to the start of the 2009-2010 academic year. We are already underway with students from Grades 1 - 12 in regular classes. A special thank you to those parents who have sent their children along to school. These students have had the opportunity of undertaking some very valuable revision work prior to full programs commencing after the Eid break. Parents who have kept their children home over these first two weeks are advised that packs of revision work are available from the teaching staff.

OPEN HOMES

These will now be held in the first week after Eid. Elementary will have their open home on Wednesday 30 September while MS/HS will hold their open home on Thursday 1 October. Both events will run from 7pm until 9pm and will start with a general meeting in the PAC followed by the opportunity to meet with class and subject teachers in the various classrooms.

SCHOOL HOURS

After Eid, school hours will return to normal, those being 7.30am until 2.20pm. We really appreciate parents ensuring their children are at school before 7.30 as late arrival means a significant disruption to the education of our students.

Opening Hours for School Idara

During the summer vacation, the Idara will be open during the following times.

  • Up until June 28, office hours will be 9am until 1pm
  • From August 23 until August 27, office hours will be 9am until noon
  • From August 30, Ramadan Hours will apply

Re-Enrollment will continue during summer Vaccation for Accademic Year 2009-2010

We wish to remind all parents that re-enrollment for the 2009/2010 academic year is open during summer vacation. As places are filling up very rapidly, we strongly recommend that all parents re-register as soon as possible to avoid missing out on a place for next year. After the April break, we will not be able to guarantee any places so please see the registrar as soon as possible.
