ATIS Launches Parent Engagement App 3 AR

A’Takamul strives to ensure students have a strong foundation in their Islamic and Kuwaiti roots, while also helping them grow into well-rounded, global citizens. Kindergarten is a vital time for children to learn human interaction skills and to express their emotions. At school—especially through the support of teachers and counselors—we emphasize self-awareness, self-regulation, social awareness, and responsibility. We value the power of meaningful relationships with family, fellow students, and teachers.

A’Takamul focuses on four key areas: respect, responsibility, results, and recreation. Respect at this age is developed by teaching students living values and modeling good listening skills. Children are taught to be polite to everyone, to encourage and congratulate one another. Respect goes beyond saying “please” and “thank you.” Responsibility is promoted by setting high expectations and consistent routines. Students are taught accountability and the impact of their choices. For example, when a student is helpful and considerate, others may follow their lead. Conversely, poor choices may cause peers to distance themselves, potentially affecting a child’s self-esteem and growth. Results are achieved through project-based learning and assessed through various documented evaluations. Recreation is fostered through play-based learning. In Kindergarten, we strive to develop a lifelong love of learning in every child.

As counselors, our goal is to recognize that every child’s behavior is unique. We do not aim to change their individuality, but rather to support them in developing strong social-emotional skills that will help them succeed in both school and life. It is important for counselors not only to listen to children but to observe their non-verbal communication to better understand their needs.
