Welcome to the Elementary Department of A’Takamul International School. ATIS is an American curriculum international school that combines western education with Kuwaiti values and traditions. We strive to educate our students on an individual basis, recognizing that every child is a unique individual with a distinct set of values, passions, experiences and ideas. In keeping with the school’s mission statement we encourage our students to be lifelong learners in an increasingly global society where each individual has the necessary skills and attitudes to be successful, socially aware global citizens.
We offer your child a broad and balanced curriculum which places emphasis upon the major aspects of the children’s physical, emotional, social and cognitive development. The curriculum promotes child-centered learning and we provide your child with a challenging, stimulating environment. In the Elementary School we follow the Common Core standards with a strong emphasis on collaborative learning strategies applied in all areas of studies.
Our mission at ATIS is not only to teach academic skills, but also to educate students of the culturally and socially acceptable norms, conflict resolution, tolerance and peaceful coexistence. ATIS students are given plenty of opportunities to discover their talent in a variety of curricular and extracurricular activities. In other words, our task is to raise culturally and socially aware, open minded and tolerant citizens who are valuable and proactive members of the society.
The Elementary Department is comprised of first to fifth grade classes. Boys and girls are in mixed classrooms from first to fourth grades. There are separate boys and girls classes in fifth grade however, students share common areas and school facilities throughout the day.
